Tenzin Dakpa was born as a refugee. He attended boarding school at SOS Tibetan Children’s Village (T.C.V) in Dharamshala. He remembers drawing landscapes and cartoons when he was still in elementary school.

In 1998, he participated in T.C.V school painting competition and I won 1st prize. In school his teachers noticed his talent and they appreciated his art.

After 1998, Tenzin participated in many painting competitions and won many certificates for his work.

In 2000, Tenzin met Tibetan artist, Lob sang Lack. From Lob sang he learned about sculpture and had many in depth conversations about Tibetan Thangka Paintings. This meeting encouraged Tenzin to dive completely into the fine arts.

In 2003, Tenzin joined art’s stream in T.C.V. Gopalpur. For two years he worked created many paintings and drawings. He also worked with other students to create an editorial cartoon. After completing +2 class Tenzin was admitted in Delhi College of Art.

In 2009 he graduated from Delhi College of Art. In the summer of 2009 he had two exhibitions “50 years in exile” and “artist in exile” at TCV, and Namgyal monastery hall. October 2009, his work was shown a third time in Shimla; currently he is staying in Dharamsala…wait…
