Peak Art presents ART + POETRY, an exhibition featuring Tibetan contemporary painters and poets. The exhibition highlights the work of six Tibetan contemporary painters and five Tibetan poets.
The painters participating in the event are, Sonam Lhundup, Dr. Dawa, Tenzin Dakpa, Lobsand Dorjee, Ngawang Dorjee, and Sonam Wangchuck. The majority of the pieces in the exhibit are water colors.
Tenzin Tsunde and Bhuchung D. Sonam will read pieces of their work at the reception. Both poets are members of Tibet Writes, a not-for-profit site dedicated to Tibet and Tibetan people.
The opening reception will take place in the gallery on Friday, May 14, 2010 from 5-8 pm. The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.
Peak Art strives serve artists and the Tibetan community in exile. Losang Gyatso a US-based contemporary artist, and one of the founding members of Mechak said,"I look forward to seeing the gallery (Peak Art) become an important part of Dharamsala's cultural life. Doing events that combine writing and visual art is a brilliant idea."
